Welcome Message
Welcome to the Cerritos Tennis Club! Our club was founded in 1974 with the goal of promoting tennis within the community. To attain this goal, our club sponsors several activities a year. Among these are Men, Women, and Mixed Doubles Tournaments, and several club competitions with other tennis clubs.

From September until June, we have an Interclub Team Tennis League. Several weekend trips add excitement to our busy schedule. Our club promotes social gatherings for it's members, their families, and guests.

Our courts are located at the Cerritos High School Tennis courts, 12300 E. 183rd Street in Cerritos. These courts are exclusively reserved for our members for weekend play on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 AM to 11 AM. Wednesday evenings, the courts are reserved for our members from 6 PM to 10 PM.

The Cerritos Tennis Club membership consists of singles, couples, and families. If you are interested in hearing more about our club or in joining our club, please register (SIGN ME UP) for the website and download the membership application from the Downloads section. This is just a reminder that most of the features of the Cerritos Tennis Club website are only accessible to registered users. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE, SEPTEMBER 2007

Hi Friends:

Hope all of you had a good summer although the sizzling heat got little bit out of hand in the last week of August. I did see a few diehards at the courts pushing up their start time to seven to avoid the heat. Luckily, it was not hot when we had our round robin men’s doubles tournament. The highlight of this year’s tournament was the participation of two teams of hard hitting youngsters from the Cerritos High School. In fact one of the teams that of Chris and Kevin were the runner up of the tournament and won some cash money and trophy as the second prize. The winners of the tournament were Allan (Quach) and Raymond, a recently recruited member of the Cerritos Tennis Club. We wish to congratulate the winners and all the participants of the tournament. We plan to hold another such tournament before the end of the year. Our thanks to Al Arun for conducting the tournament and ensuring its success.

An interclub’s tournament is planned with the Downey Tennis Club at their courts in Downey at 8 AM on Saturday, September 22 (please see the flyer for additional details).
Thos interesting in signing up for Men’s doubles and mixed doubles, please contact me or any of the Board members at the courts or by phone before Sept 16.

I am pleased to inform you that the Cerritos Tennis Club has obtained tax-exempt status from the State of California. This important achievement was entirely due to the painstaking efforts of Peter Fu, our treasurer. Please join me in offering our heartfelt thanks to Peter for his service to the club. We hope that this newly acquired non-profit status will open up several avenues for the club and will aid in its future growth and development.

Last but not the least, please keep your membership active and pass on the news on our activities to friends to attract new members to the club. As of today, our membership stands at 62, thanks to the addition of 6-7 new members who joined in July.

I urge you to bring up any items for discussion to the Board Members. We are here to help the Club to the extent we can.

Best regards.

Ram

Pete Palmer, an infrequent player at the courts now, had a heart attack two weeks ago. He has had a successful surgery and is currently recovering at home from having a pacemaker installed.

President’s message February 12, 2007
Dear Friends,

This being the first newsletter for the year 2007, I wish to extend new year greetings on behalf of the Board Members and myself to all of you. I do hope that the new year will see you fully fit with renewed energy, strength, and stimulation to play as much tennis as possible and have fun at the courts.
I am glad to see to some new faces at the courts. As we move along, it is critical that more members are recruited so that tournaments and interclub matches can be arranged with ease and at the same time are more interesting. I also urge members renewing memberships do so ASAP. It is our desire to bring out a comprehensive membership directory in April. Your co-operation in paying membership dues is greatly appreciated.
Al (Arunachalam) has already scheduled a friendly interclub tournament with Westchester Club on Saturday, March 24th at 9AM. Details will follow. We had an exciting tournament with the Westchester Club last year and I hope this year’s will be even more fun. Info on additional tournaments for the year will be posted at a later date. Please join.
It is that time of the year when we seek nominations for new office bearers for 2007. It is absolutely essential that members come forward to take up some responsibility. It is critical for the survival of the club that new office bearers are elected and are asked to run the club. The club needs new ideas and new blood to step in and provide leadership. Please volunteer to serve or nominate a deserving person(s) for any of the portfolios such as President, Vice President and Board member(s). We are fortunate to have Peter Fu agree to serve as Treasurer and Mike Abell continue to be the Secretary for the year 2007. As you all know, Mike has done a tremendous job as the Secretary in 2006. I can assure you that I and other members of the Board will be always available to help and offer suggestions to you if you volunteer to get on the Board. Once again, I cannot emphasize how important it is for the viability and vitality of the Club to have new members volunteer to serve. Please fill in names in the enclosed nomination form and send it to Mike Abell.

Best regards.

Ram

Hi Friends:

We are thankful to those who participated in the recent Turkey Shoot tournament on November 4th. Geroge Diaz (Noeing) and Al Arunachalam (CTC) did a great job of putting together an exciting tournament. We will post some of the pictures very soon.
I request all the members to let AL know quite in advance about any neigbboring clubs that you know of so that we can set up some friendly tournaments during 2007.
I am sure you are enjying your tennis in the recently surfaced courts with new nets. Please give us ideas about any additional improvements that the courts may need.
I am glad to inform you that with Peter Fu (CPA) joing the CTC Board as Treasurer , incorproation of the club as a non-profit organaization is proceeding fast. We are all thankful to him amd to Jim Morris for their service.

Downey Tennis Club will hold its annual christamas party on December 8. A flyer has been posted on our message board and our Vice President Mike Canzone has all the details. Please sign up and use the opportunity to know our neighboring club during a fun-filled evening.

Our last newsletter also contained a self addressed envelope with membership application form for 2007. Please renew your membership as soon as you can so that we can bring out a directory in the early part of the year.
Have a wonderful holiday season!
Your friend
Ram
